Methodology & Sources
Everything on AlQurani traces to a named, published source. This page lists each one, and how the text reaches your screen.
The Arabic text
The Quranic text and its page layout follow the Madinah Mushaf: the King Fahd Glyphs (QPC V4) dataset — the digital text of the King Fahd Quran Printing Complex — obtained via the Quranic Universal Library (QUL). Pages are rendered line-for-line as the printed 604-page, 15-line mushaf, and the text is real Unicode — selectable, searchable, and accessible — not images. Tajwīd colouring uses the QPC tajwīd dataset; stop marks (waqf) follow the Madinah Mushaf conventions.
Translations
One published, human translation per language — we never machine-translate scripture. The translator is credited on every page where the translation appears.
| Language | Translator | Work / publisher |
|---|---|---|
| English | M. A. S. Abdel Haleem | The Qur’an (Oxford University Press) |
| Malay | Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih | Tafsir Pimpinan Ar-Rahman (JAKIM) |
| Indonesian | The Sabiq Company | Indonesian translation |
| Urdu | Maulana Wahiduddin Khan | Urdu translation |
| Turkish | Dar Al-Salam Center | Turkish translation |
Tafsir (commentary)
Four classical and modern scholarly works, available for all 114 surahs, sourced via the Quran.com corpus and attributed on every tafsir page:
| Work | Author | Language |
|---|---|---|
| Tafsir Ibn Kathir (abridged by Shaykh Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri, Darussalam) | Hafiz Ibn Kathir (d. 774 AH) | English |
| Ma’arif al-Qur’an (Maktaba-e-Darul-Uloom) | Mufti Muhammad Shafi | English |
| Jami’ al-Bayan ’an Ta’wil ay al-Qur’an | Imam al-Tabari (d. 310 AH) | Arabic |

Recitation audio
Per-ayah recitation audio and the word-level timings that drive word-by-word highlighting come from the Quran.com audio API. Audio streams directly to your browser; we do not alter recitations.
Prayer times & calendar
Prayer times are calculated on your device using the open-source adhan astronomical library with standard calculation methods. Location is opt-in and used locally — it is never uploaded. Hijri calendar dates are computed conversions and can differ by a day from official moon-sighting announcements in your country; follow your local authority for observances.
Corrections
If you find any error — in the Arabic text, a translation, an attribution, or prayer times — please report it with the surah and ayah number. Corrections to scripture and attribution are our highest-priority issues.
